Inside the Leo’s Loo drum is a semicircle shaped sifter. When the drum rotates, the sifter separates the dirty litter clumps from clean loose litter. As the drum continues rotating, the clumps are dumped into the waste drawer at the base of the machine, and the clean litter settles back to the bottom of the drum, ready for the next use.
With an interior diameter of over 21”, large cats can easily fit inside and move around comfortably.
The entryway is 8.5” in diameter, which is an easy squeeze even for large cats.
Cats should weigh a minimum of 2lb to use Leo’s Loo in automatic mode.
The entryway is designed to prevent litter from escaping the drum during cleaning cycles while still providing ample space for cats of all sizes to enter.
We also added a custom silicon ring around the entryway that helps catch litter caught in your kitty’s fur and paws before it’s tracked through your home.
Sensors inside Leo’s Loo detect when the waste drawer needs to be changed. When it’s time to change the drawer, you’ll see a prompt on the screen in the shape of an exclamation mark and the exterior light will flash. For a single cat, the drawer usually needs to be changed about once a week.
Yes, a single Leo’s Loo will support up to three cats without need for any additional litter boxes.
Leo’s Loo emits less than 40 dB of sound when operating, making it significantly quieter than competitive products. 40 dB roughly equivalent to the sound of leaves rustling, and should not wake most people from sleep.
Leo’s Loo initiates a cleaning cycle two minutes after a cat leaves, which means most “cat poop snacks” will disappear before your canine buddy has a chance to get to them.
Leo’s Loo should not create dust. Its covered drum and custom entryway are designed to eliminate the spread of litter and litter dust.
Leo’s Loo is a complete one piece polymer sphere which will not leak.
No water is required to run Leo’s Loo.
Leo’s Loo uses weight sensors, anti-pinch technology and radar to stop moving parts whenever a cat is detected inside or nearby.
Only use clay type clumping cat litter.
Leo’s Loo tracks how many times your cat(s) steps inside the drum. This number, called the Loo Count, is displayed on the front screen. The Loo Count will show cumulative visits until it is reset.
Leo’s Loo also displays your cat’s weight. We call this Kitty Weight, and it is displayed on the screen underneath Loo Count. Leo’s Loo only registers and displays Kitty Weight while a cat is inside the drum. When no cats are inside, Kitty Weight will show a zero.
Loo Count and Kitty Weight are displayed on the screen located on the front right side of your Leo’s Loo.
No. Leo’s Loo does not have an app.
Leo’s Loo measures your cat’s weight each time she steps inside the drum using weight sensors inside the feet. This is why it’s important that your Leo’s Loo is placed on a hard, even surface.
No. Weight is only displayed while a cat is inside the drum.
No, Leo’s Loo is unable to distinguish between different cats. It will only display the total number of times it detects a cat inside the drum.
Leo’s Loo will track how often cats visit, but is unable to tell if they went potty or not. Often cats will go in and out just because they can.
When you first open your Leo’s Loo box, you should find the following items inside:
The AC cord is 6 feet long and anti-chew. There is not battery in Leo’s Loo
Leo’s Loo does not have a battery.
Yes. Each Leo’s Loo includes a package of 10 waste drawer bags. Additional bags can be purchased at www.smartypear.com
Each Leo’s Loo comes with a Smarty Pear green carbon filter pouch. Place it in the forward compartment of the waste drawer.
About 1.2 gallons or approximately 10lbs. Fill until the silicon bladder inside the drum is covered. Do not fill beyond the point where the silicon bladder meets the back of the drum.
DO NOT USE THE FRONT OF THE DRUM AS A GAUGE AS THE DRUM IS TILTED AND THIS WILL CREATE AN OVERFILL SITUATION.
If you do happen to overfill, Leo’s Loo will dump the excess litter into the drawer after the first cycle. If you are seeing clean litter in the drawer, you have overfilled.
Leo’s Loo should be placed on a hard, solid surface. Avoid thick pile carpet or other uneven surfaces.
If you cannot avoid a carpeted surface, we recommend placing a stiff rubber or polycarbonate chair mat on top of the carpet.
Leo’s Loo should always be placed in a dry, indoor location to avoid exposing the internal electronics to moisture. It cannot be exposed to moisture as it is an electronics product.

In theory, any other carbon filter that fits inside the drawer should work, although we can’t guarantee the quality or effectiveness of these filters. Our carbon filter bag is made from bamboo, filled with all natural ingredients and helps reduce unpleasant odors.
Smarty Pear drawstring waste drawer bags, which are designed to fit Leo’s Loo waste drawer, are available for purchase at www.smartypear.com.
Filters are good for 1-3 months depending on environment and use.
Occasionally, the cover and/or drum on the Leo’s Loo can become unseated during shipping. If this happens, your Leo’s Loo will not function properly. Fortunately, reseating the cover and drum is a simple process. Simply follow these steps:

If your Leo’s Loo is incorrectly displaying the waste drawer full alert, please follow these steps:
Leo’s Loo will have trouble accurately displaying weight if it is placed on carpet or other soft, uneven surfaces. If you cannot avoid a carpeted surface, we recommend placing a stiff rubber or polycarbonate chair mat on top of the carpet.
You have overfilled Leo’s Loo with too much litter.
You should only use about 1.2 gallons or approximately 10lbs of litter. Do not fill beyond the point where the silicon bladder meets the back of the drum.
DO NOT USE THE FRONT OF THE DRUM AS A GAUGE AS THE DRUM IS TILTED AND THIS WILL CREATE AN OVERFILL SITUATION.
Don’t worry. Your Leo’s Loo will not initiate a cleaning cycle until it detects that your cat is no longer inside or nearby.
Please make sure your Leo’s Loo is in Automatic mode. You should see an “A” on the screen. If you see an “M” Leo’s Loo is in Manual Mode. To switch, long press the Mode button until you see the “M” on the screen change to “A”.
When in Manual mode, Leo’s Loo will only cycle when you short press the Mode button. Manual mode is ideal for underweight kitties or cats that are still acclimating to Leo’s Loo.
